On deck for "Air: the Difference "

Hopefully I will be able to interview Ruth Leitman, if not then maybe Pat?

According to David Edelstein, of Slate magazine, “The human comedy rarely comes wrapped in as gloriously trashy a package as Lipstick & Dynamite.’” Through a series of absorbing interviews—alternately hysterically funny and sad—Ruth Leitman introduces her audience to the “first ladies of wrestling,” those women who worked the wrestling circuit in the 1950s and 1960s. Leitman will be present to introduce the film and to answer questions after the screening.

This presentation is cosponsored by the Women’s Center as part of the 2006 Gender Conference, “Gender Works: Building an Equitable Future for All.” A reception will be held at 6:30 in the main lobby.

Next on "Air: the Difference "

I will be discussing the story of Schapelle Corby.  I wonder if part of the story might involve canceling University trips to Bali - upon student request?  I plan on interviewing a few students - who attend universities sponsoring such trips - live, as to their intentions.

    The difference?

So far, I suspect that students at only Aussie or New Zealand schools even care.

Further on "Air: the Difference "

I will be focusing some of my interest on LA.  I will try and arrange a meeting of three to four experts.  One, in studio, from our nearby Naval Base, another over the phone from an office of the Army Corps of Engineers, another on the phone, a PE in Civil Engineering (that's bridge building), and perhaps a fourth participant Online using Gizmo or Net Meeting software an old acquaintance of mine who still is a Merchant Marine who spends part duty on rigs in the LA gulf and the other commitment on the Mississippi on a barge.

    The difference?

I think the rescue efforts are going as smooth as possible, in spite of what is reported on Fox News Channel, and in spite of what happened to Mobile, Alabama - just in case anyone really gives a DAMN.

And here is an updated link:    http://joemaller.com/category/misc/

And another:    "Wikipedia’s Hurricane Katrina page is proving to be an exceptional resource for additional information."

We're in college, people, read this stuff.

and Beyond on "Air: the Difference "

I will be asking Comcast to answer one question.  The question I give them here in advance of the "quiz".

Comcast or your representative, how do you define Local Cable Access?

The difference?  Huge, when compared to what Local Cable Access was 10, 15 and 20 years ago.

in the Near Future on "Air: the Difference "

I will be asking someone "the" question.  "The" question is not mine, "it" is from a "sleeper" of a movie called, "Amazing Grace and Chuck".  Please rent it, or what the heck, I will provide it online soon for you all to watch.

"The" Question is:  If all of the children of the world refused to speak until every, single, solitary nuclear weapon in every country's reasonable control were deactivated, disassembled , and finally laid to rest - would we do it.  Would we want our children to give up their best thing as a protest of all countries that harbor dangerous weapons?  Is this really, once and for all, unrealistic to expect?

    The difference?

Something of a protest will happen, it may or may not be in my life time, it may not be silence, it may come as a surprise, the protest might be as docile as the typical household cat - just more effective.  But, there will be a protest.

I believe that, unlike the faux protests and rude Grateful Dead-like- Following-like-Baby-Boomer, T-shirt makin', T-shirt sellin' goof-off children of the late 80's and early 90's (who today probably still sell T-shirts or coffee or books), that today's High School and college kids and adults today, now in fact, are willing to take similar risks of protest that my slightly older friends did in the late 60's and early 70's (who today are probably managers of coffee, book, or T-shirt shops).

Yeah sure, Penn Gillette has done a pretty decent job of uncloaking the faux survivalists and faux naturists and "tree huggin' liberals" on his near infamous cable-TV special, but I still think he, during production, didn't go to the young enough in our culture to find the good reasoned thinkers that make up a surprisingly huge percentage of 17 to 20 year-olds of the students we see and teach now.

sooner than You Think on "Air: the Difference "

Coffee has been much maligned of late,  especially hot coffee, and I'm sick of it!  I love coffee!  I need coffee!  Gimme sum coffee!

Personally, I can do without a lot of video games, but that's just me.  I don't think either (as Bill Maher recently has said) that we should make laws based on our personal opinion.

    The difference?

The ESRB or NRBQ or whomever they think they are can't hold a candle to my coffee.  Lay off, I say, just lay off my coffee!

And we might discuss our opinions of video gaming and games, perhaps while using a bit of the old "Game Theory", hmm?

And another Game Theory link to throw you off the coffee scent.  O, for the love of....what will come next?

    Air-chivals:

First on "Air: the Difference "

    Jonathan Waterman 3pm, Tuesday, August 16th, 2005

The interview is over.  Now since I am a member of the Dia-Tribe, I will keep my good standing by merely repeating to my self "read the book.", and just Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo.  Lesson learned, lesson gained.

This was my first interview of a national figure that was not a musician, comedian, actor, or architect!  I am quite proud.  Of myself.

This is the one where I really try hard to interview them!
